UNIT PLAN

Unit plan has a great value to the teacher because it served as the basis for developing a set of related daily teaching plans and education activities. Thus, it is been a valuable to the teacher since then for it guides the later to make his/her teaching strategies more effective, efficient and consistent.

Unit plan has five components that are going to apply; first, what are your objectives in making a unit plan. Next is content, it often includes the three categories: knowledge, skills, and values. Then skills, it consists of critical reading, skimming, and scanning. Learning activities, such as; field trips, debates, research and experiments. And the last one is Resource materials.

INSTRUCTIONAL PLANNING

To define planning, it is a process that begins with objectives and defines strategies, policies, and detailed plan to achieve the desired results. Thus it has a guide in order to prepare and organize lessons, and this we call mapping. The guidelines for mapping recommendations or course level of planning. Be sure you understand the rational of the course in the context of goals of the school. Clarify the focus of the course designed to stress subject matter, learner need, or social needs. Determine if there is special need for the course. And decide on important components so that they can be used as framework for your unit planning.

And so as a future teacher it is a guidelines to be better teacher and be a effective teacher.

FUNCTION OF TEACHING

Perennialism theory, this has been discussed by Junavile Bastasa as a part of Function of Teaching. The theory states that, education is a preparation for life. In which I relate most as a future teacher.

As a teacher it is quite obvious that what has been done in teaching is somewhat reflected to its personality, from personality up to our life. On the part of the students, education is their preparation for their better life.

Part of the topic that was discussed, stated that, education is a social process. We learned to our society through people’s behavior.

COGNITIVE LEARNING

Cognitive Learning is defined within the fields of psychology as being aware of current intellectuality such as knowing and thinking. When conscious judgments are being made within the brain, the process is described as cognitive.

He also mentioned the 7 Competencies Skill that Learners can Develop which was further elaborated by Miss Anjie Lapez-Cabahug, which are the: Analysis, Focusing or Scanning, Comparative Analysis, Narrowing, Complex Cognitive, Sharpening, Tolerance.

CHARACTERISTICS OF LEARNING

Of this week, Mr. Platon, the reporter, talked the Characteristics of Learning, which are the Learning is Fundamental, Learning is interactive, and Learning is Developmental.

Moreover, he also discussed the different Types of Remembering which are the Recall, Recognition, Relearning and Reintegration.

Recall this is something which is bringing back to conscious memory matters previously considered.  Recognition is an act of recognizing someone or something as familiar. Relearning it involves the retooling of models of learning of some approaches of what as learned before. Reintegration, this is recalling of whole experience on the basis of some fraction of the original circumstances.

MEANINGFUL LEARNING THEORY

Meaningful Learning Theory, this was the topic that we discussed on the 4th week with Kim Brian Hinaloc as a reporter.

Meaningful Learning Theory takes place where an individual learns by relating newly acquired information to what the learners already knows, according to Ausubel.

This was further elaborated through the characteristics and concepts related to meaningful learning theory: Meaningful Learning Set, Relevant Prior Knowledge, Organization, Elaboration, Visual Imagery, Advanced Organizers and Cognitive Structure.

Therefore, every information which was learned already, was further improved by the newly acquired information.

LEARNING PROCESS

Learning in our third week which is reported by Miss Oval has its 3 Information Processing. The Sensory Memory, Working or Short-Term Memory, and the Long-Term Memory which are best explained below.

Process takes place when the information stores in just few period of time, which is said to be Sensory Memory. From sensory memory to the Working Memory, information is assigned meaning and relate it  to other information. Finally, after it has been absorbed and gave its corresponding meaning, Long-Term memory takes place. Information stores for a lifetime and retrieve if it is needed to relate to another situation.
